The gift of mobility for Jeff Wright, leukemia Survivor
Thanks to Caruso Family Charities, leukemia survivor, Jeff Wright, was presented with the gift of mobility. A recumbent bike, which has been specially equipped for his use, was given to Jeff . According to Jeff’s oncologist, Dr. Tom Smith of the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Hospital, Jeff suffers from ataxia-telangiectasia, which is a genetic condition that predisposed him to leukemia and has also severely affected his balance. According to Dr. Smith, “Walking is nearly impossible for Jeff.”
At the age of 22, outings had become challenging for Jeff. With his new recumbent bike, Jeff will be able to ride to a health club close to his home in Lone Tree. Jeff was a senior at Rock Canyon High School in Douglas County when he was diagnosed with leukemia. An athlete, he starred in both football and lacrosse for his high school.
Jeff was honored with the Bill Meyn Scholarship established by Caruso Family Charities. The scholarship allowed Jeff to attend Arapahoe Community College where he is presently working on attaining his Associates Degree in Business. Thanks to all the supporters of Caruso Family Charities who made this gift of mobility possible for Jeff Wright.
